Hotel Barcelona, the cult-favorite action horror roguelike from Hidetaka Suehiro (SWERY) and Goichi Suda, has officially moved from “Mixed” to “Positive” user reviews on Steam, marking a major turnaround following its comprehensive “Under New Management” relaunch earlier this year.
The milestone comes after a sustained multi-month campaign combining deep gameplay overhaul, repositioning, boots on the ground community outreach, and global marketing execution, transforming player sentiment and restoring momentum behind distinctive titles from two of the industry’s most creative forces.
As part of the celebration, Hotel Barcelona is adding free collaboration skins in
partnership with the following game titles:
- Shadows of the Damned
- Bye Sweet Carole
- Death Game Hotel
- The Good Life
The collaborations bring together a collection of games that share Hotel Barcelona’s love of the strange, the cinematic, the cult and the uncompromising.
- Shadows of the Damned connects Hotel Barcelona back to the wild creative lineage of SUDA51: a punk-horror action cult classic full of demons, attitude and absurdity. Its inclusion feels like a natural tribute to the kind of bold, rule-breaking game design that helped shape Hotel Barcelona in the first place.
- Bye Sweet Carole adds a completely different flavor of horror: gothic, animated, elegant and unsettling. Its presence highlights the broader horror family surrounding Hotel Barcelona, not just slashers and bloodshed, but mood, fairy-tale darkness and visual identity.
- Death Game Hotel brings another layer of deadly competition and surreal survival, making it a perfect tonal match for Hotel Barcelona’s own twisted hotel setting, competitive tension and death-game energy.
- The Good Life, created by SWERY and White Owls, connects directly to the studio’s own creative universe: eccentric characters, small-town strangeness, mystery and a style of storytelling that could only come from SWERY.

Together, the skins are both a thank you to the players who helped Hotel Barcelona
turn the corner and a celebration of the wider family of cult games that continue to
keep strange, creator-led experiences alive.
Hotel Barcelona is available now on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
