Black Clover Anime Season 2 Reveals Director, Premieres This October

TV Tokyo has announced that Season 2 of the Black Clover anime will premiere this October on its network. The broadcaster also confirmed that Ayataka Tanemura, who directed episodes 153–170 of the original anime and the film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, will helm the new season.

Animation production for the new season will once again be handled by Studio Pierrot, while Crunchyroll will stream the series internationally.

The original Black Clover anime concluded its run in March 2021 with episode 170. The series first premiered in October 2017 and, despite initially being announced as a 51-episode production, continued through multiple seasons until its conclusion. Following the anime’s ending, the franchise returned with the film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, which premiered in Japan and launched worldwide on Netflix in June 2023.

Created by Yūki Tabata, the Black Clover manga began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2015 before moving to the quarterly Jump Giga in 2023. The manga is available digitally and in print through VIZ Media, while MANGA Plus also publishes the series digitally worldwide.
