Indonesia-Made ‘Once Upon A Kingdom’ Is Paper Mario Meets City Building

Indonesian studio Cliffbite Game presented their newest title during the recent Southeast Asia Games Onward showcase. Once Upon A Kingdom is a strategic blend of city building, card-based gameplay, and light tower defense, featuring a distinct Paper Mario-esque art direction set in a storybook world.

Designed for replayability, no two sessions or kingdoms play the same. Manage your economy, infrastructure, and upgrades by building the right deck; from vital structures and clever combos, to last-minute defenses against relentless threats. As you expand into new lands, each unlocked tile brings surprises, risks, and rewards.

Each chapter of this game is inspired by ancient legends and conspiracy-laced tales, from Pharaoh Xehtor’s pyramids, to the aftermath of the Great Flood, to secret settlements on the Moon. The game places you at the center of a kingdom lost to time, reimagining familiar myths in a totally new way.

Once Upon A Kingdom is still in development, but you can support the developers by wishlisting the game on Steam.
