The Japanese Film Festival (JFF) is set to return to GSC International Screens for its 2025 edition, organised in collaboration with The Japan Foundation. Running from 10 September to 19 October 2025 at selected GSC cinemas nationwide, the festival will offer Malaysian audiences a chance to immerse themselves in Japan’s rich storytelling traditions and cinematic brilliance.
The festival’s main highlight is The Solitary Gourmet, a film that captures the heart of everyday Japan through food and culture. The film follows a travelling salesman, Gorō Inogashira, as he visits various restaurants and street booths to sample the local cuisine. Tasked with the challenge of uncovering the secret ingredients of a soup no one has ever heard of, his investigation leads him on a flavour-filled adventure, to not only discover its recipe, but also to persuade its elusive chef to take up the ladle once more.
A must-see film, The Solitary Gourmet will be screening at selected GSC locations from 10 September onwards. The film will be made available at prevailing ticket prices, with tickets for JFF 2025 being priced at just RM10.00.
