HoYoverse has announced that Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.1, titled “The Impending Crash of Waves,” will release on July 16, 2025. The update brings a summer-themed expansion featuring new characters, additional gameplay content, and seasonal events. As a token of appreciation, players will also be able to claim 1,600 Polychromes during the event period.
Two new playable characters from Spook Shack will make their debut in Version 2.1:
- Ukinami Yuzuha (S-Rank Physical Support), who deploys her tanuki companion Kama to enhance Anomaly Buildup and support allies with her adaptive Sweet Scare ability.
- Alice Thymefield (S-Rank Physical Anomaly), a sword-wielding noble who utilizes Blade Etiquette to unleash powerful strikes and increase Assault and Disorder damage.
Seasonal outfits for Yuzuha, Alice, and the protagonists will also be made available, alongside a new S-Rank Bangboo, Miss Esme, who can provide supportive effects mid-battle. Returning characters Miyabi (S-Rank Frost Anomaly) and Yanagi (S-Rank Electric Anomaly) will feature in rerun banners.
The update also introduces two new locations: Sailume Bay and Fantasy Resort. Sailume Bay, located beneath the cliffs of Failume Heights, serves as the central setting for Chapter 2, where Porcelumex initiates a large-scale safety investigation into the Exaltists’ recent activities.
Meanwhile, at the Fantasy Resort, players can expect a lighthearted summer story filled with tropical scenery, mysterious encounters, and beachside activities. These include surfing obstacle courses, sea shooting yacht tours, and new fishing spots with reduced grind and new species. Players can also participate in the “En-Nah” Chess Legend auto battler event with PvP features and a refreshed Simulated Battle Trial system for combat-focused players.
