The Digital Blacksmith Workshop returns this July, taking place at Xsolla Curine Academy from the 26th to the 27th. The event, organised by the Digital Blacksmith School in collaboration with the United States-based Brainstorm School, aims to provide participants with effective design knowledge, career guidance, industry insights and business strategy tailored for artists across Southeast Asia.
The Workshop is one of the few concept art-focused events in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, with the goal of addressing the region’s struggles with industry exposure, portfolio direction, and sustainability. The two-day event aims to bridge that gap by giving participants:
- Live demos from industry pros
- One-on-one portfolio reviews
- Talks on freelancing, branding, industry insights and business
- A space to Network and Connect
Participants will have the opportunity to meet and learn from artists behind titles like League of Legends, Call of Duty, Star Wars, Netflix Originals and more. Notable speakers include James Paick, co-founder of the Brainstorm School; Robbie Trevino, Lead Artist at Netflix Games; Alitt Khaliq, founder and CEO of Albrite Studios; and Kenn Yap, YouTuber and former artist at Wizards of the Coast.
Siew Hong, the event’s main organiser and founder of the Digital Blacksmith School, shared: “I didn’t start this just to bring in big names from overseas. It’s about showing what’s possible and giving Southeast Asian artists a place to learn, connect, and push each other forward. With the amount of talent we have, I believe we can take the lead on the global stage.”
Tickets and a detailed event itinerary are available on Digital Blacksmith School’s website. Students will also be eligible for a student discount, and are required to present their student card upon registration.
