CinemaCon Day 3 featured one of the event’s biggest highlights: an exclusive screening of Universal Pictures’ live-action How To Train Your Dragon. The film opened to glowing praise from those in attendance, with Astra Awards founder Scott Menzel even calling it “everything that Disney hasn’t been able to capture with their live-action remakes”.
General audiences interested in seeing the film will have to wait for its official release on June 13. Universal also confirmed a live-action How To Train Your Dragon sequel, set for June 11, 2027.
Other highlights from their presentation included:
1. Wicked: For Good

Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jon M. Chu, and Marc Platt screened a new trailer for Wicked: For Good, coming this November 21. Attendees had their first look (or first listen?) at Grande and Erivo’s take on “No Good Deed” and “For Good”, as well as a few scenes of Dorothy and her companions on the yellow brick road.
2. Jurassic World: Rebirth

Director Gareth Edwards and Jurassic World: Rebirth actors Mahershala Ali and Scarlett Johansson introduced an exclusive reel from the new film, which showed off new characters Zoe Bennett (Johansson), Dr. Kincaid (Ali), Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey) and Martin Krebs (Rupert Friend), as well as plenty of exciting new dinosaurs. The film releases in theatres on July 2.
3. HIM

Famed horror director Jordan Peele steps into the producer role for HIM, directed by Justin Tipping. Visitors were shown a teaser trailer for the film, which shows a young football player (Tyriq Withers) being put through an intense training montage by his coach, a legendary ex-quarterback (Marlon Wayans). In true Peele fashion, it quickly devolves into the unsettling, with glimpses of a demonic mascot and a football field covered in occult symbols.
4. M3GAN 2.0

The sequel to the unexpected viral hit M3GAN premiered its first trailer at CinemaCon, where it seems like the movie will be fully embracing its over-the-top, campy premise. The once-evil robot doll M3GAN is resurrected to fight against a new, even more evil robot doll named Amelia, who was created using stolen M3GAN source code. The film comes to theatres this June 27.
5. The Bad Guys 2

Attendees were shown a new trailer for The Bad Guys 2, a sequel to the 2022 animated comedy releasing August 1. The Bad Guys are attempting to live as good guys, when they meet The Bad Girls, an all-female team of villains planning a heist involving a space shuttle. Our protagonist Mr. Wolf agrees to work with them, but secretly plots to sabotage their plans and turn them in.
6. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2

Everyone’s favourite evil animatronics return this December 5, this time on the loose and able to appear anywhere in public. The Balloon Boy animatronic from the original Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 game makes an appearance, as does Toy Freddy, a remodeled and more dangerous version of the titular Freddy.
Other announcements made included a trailer for the Bob Odenkirk thriller Nobody 2, releasing August 15; horror film The Black Phone 2, releasing October 17; Soulm8te, a new James Wan-produced R-rated thriller, releasing January 2026; as well as a teaser for Bugonia, a new film from Poor Things director Yorgos Lanthimos, releasing November 7.
