Black Butler, the popular dark fantasy manga by Yana Toboso, will resume its serialization in the May issue of Square Enix’s G Fantasy magazine, which will be released on April 18. The announcement was made via the magazine’s April issue (released on March 18), signaling an end to the manga’s nearly 1- year hiatus.
The manga initially went on hiatus in June 2024 to allow Toboso to conduct necessary research and make preparations as the story heads towards its highly anticipated climax. During the series’ hiatus, G Fantasy filled the void by re-publishing older chapters of the Black Butler manga.
In the meantime, fans can look forward to a new television anime adaptation, the Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc, which is set to premiere on April 5th. It is the latest in a long series of Black Butler anime adaptations, with the first of three main television anime seasons airing in 2008. This was followed by films like the Black Butler II OVA project, the Black Butler: Book of Murder OVA, and the Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic anime film.
With the manga’s return and the upcoming anime adaptation, Black Butler fans have much to look forward to in the coming months. Further announcements on the manga will be made via G Fantasy’s X/Twitter account.
