Korean game developer Pixelity Inc. has officially announced the development of an XR game based on the popular anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion. The game is planned as a trilogy based on the world and events of all 26 episodes of the series, with the first installment set for release in 2026.
For those unfamiliar, XR or “extended reality” is an umbrella category that combines aspects of virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality technologies. Players can likely expect a virtual reality game that also incorporates interaction with the real world, akin to something like Pokemon Go or Monster Hunter Now.
The game will see players experiencing the narrative through the eyes of an original character, exploring the world of Neon Genesis Evangelion by taking on quests, and engaging in thrilling battles – all while following the timeline and key events of the anime. It will also feature interactive and cooperative gameplay with familiar characters.
More updates will be made available via Pixelity Inc.’s official website.
