Sanrio‘s My Melody and Kuromi will be getting their own stop-motion animation series on Netflix this July. The animation will commemorate the 50th anniversary of My Melody and the 20th anniversary of Kuromi.
Although little is known about its plot so far, it has been confirmed that the story will take place in Maryland where My Melody and Kuromi live. Tomoki Misato, the creator of the Pui Pui Molcar stop-motion television series, will be directing the series at TORUKU from Studio WIT.
Sanrio previously premiered the Onegai My Melody and Kuromi’s Pretty Journey anime series in 2005 and 2023 respectively. They also previously collaborated with Netflix to stream the Aggretsuko animated series, depicting an office associate in the accounting department of a trading company in Tokyo, who faces her daily stresses and conflicts in a comical way.
