PlayStation’s State of Play returned this morning to present a 30-minute showcase of 20+ upcoming PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2 games, including some unexpected world premieres and date reveals!
From the new Ghost of Tsushima sequel, to the Monster Hunter Wilds release date, here’s everything you missed in one tidy place.
1. First Gameplay Reveal For ‘Hell is Us’
Hell is Us is an upcoming action-adventure game, set in a war-torn country where players must unravel the mysteries of their past and confront the human darkness that fuels the chaos. Developers Rogue Factor promise an “uncompromising immersive experience” that relies on the player’s own observation, reasoning, and intuition to progress. Not exactly the new Resident Evil announcement we were anticipating, but this looks pretty damn good.
2. Keanu Reeves Voices Shadow In ‘Sonic X Shadow Generations’
The Sonic movies and the video games are about to collide in an incredibly fun way. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 makes its way to Sonic X Shadow Generations as part of the ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack’ including English voice acting from Keanu Reeves! Based on the trailer, the Movie Pack takes place in Tokyo which Shadow visits in the movie.
3. Alan Wake 2 Teases Lake House Expansion
Another Alan Wake 2 expansion is on the way! Set in an eerie new location on the shores of Cauldron Lake, within the Federal Bureau of Control’s research station, a catastrophic event has occurred in the Lake House. Reckless experiments have caused reality to collide with the Dark Place. This expansion unfolds parallel to the main game, putting you in the shoes of FBC agent Kiran Estevez, portrayed by Janina Gavankar.
4. Monster Hunter Wilds Launches February 28, 2025
Monster Hunter Wilds launches globally on February 28, 2025! The announcement came with a new trailer, revealing the dramatic events that kick off the events of the story and formation of the Forbidden Lands Research Commission. Players can pre-order the game on PlayStation 5 starting today to receive bonus items.
5. Stellar Blade Announces NieR: Automata DLC
Stellar Blade fans are eating well. SHIFT UP has just announced a brand new NieR: Automata DLC coming later this year. This update comes with an all-new Photo Mode which allows you to choose your favourite poses, expressions, and filters to create the perfect shot.
6. Ghost of Tsushima Sequel, Ghost of Yōtei, Arrives 2025
Four years after the initial release of Ghost of Tsushima, developers Sucker Punch have announced a sequel set to release in 2025.Ghost of Yōtei is a brand new Ghost game with a new protagonist named Atsu, who sets out on a journey in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, an area filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers.
