Japanese singer-songwriter LiSA is confirmed to perform the opening theme song for ‘NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a’ Season 2, based on the eponymous action role-playing game from Square Enix and Platinum Games.
The news was announced on the official TV anime website, including a new official visual by character designer and chief animation director Jun Nakai, and a preview of LiSA’s opening song “Black Box” in the anime’s latest “promotional file” video.
The first cours of the anime premiered back in January 2023. However, the initial episodes experienced several rounds of delays on its production schedule due to COVID-19. All twelve episodes were finally aired by July 2023. Although fans expected a second cour, the upcoming July 2024 season is being described as “2nd Season” in the video.
