Cardcaptor Sakura Gets New Design For Hello Kitty’s 50th Anniversary

Hello Kitty is celebrating her 50th birthday this year! To celebrate the momentous occasion, the iconic kitty has partnered with various creators to design some new looks.

The latest design comes from all-female Japanese manga artist group CLAMP, who revealed the design on their Twitter account on May 23rd, 2024. The post not only featured Hello Kitty in her new dress, but also Sakura Kinomoto from their hit manga Cardcaptor Sakura wearing a matching dress.

The post announced that the illustrations will be displayed at the Lady Kitty House in Sanrio Town, located in the Sanrio Puroland Theme Park in Tokyo. The illustrations will be on display from May 24th, 2024 onward.

There will also be special Hello Kitty mascot appearances in the costume designed by CLAMP. These will be happening from July 8th to 31st at Lady Kitty House in Sanrio Town, and from August 1st to 31st at Puro Village.

Besides CLAMP, Hello Kitty has also received a new dress design from Tera Terada, the artist of Medako-san no Koi Suru Shinryaku Keikaku, on April 24th, 2024.
