‘Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’ Manga Sales Double After Anime Premiere

During AnimeJapan 2024, the biggest anime industry event in Japan, the cast for ‘Freiren: Beyond Journey’s End’ took to the stage to meet fans and share their favourite moments from the anime. The anime staff also announced that manga sales have doubled since the anime adaptation premiered, much to the shock of the cast on stage.

Originally published in 2020, ‘Freiren: Beyond Journey’s End’ is an emotional and thought-provoking tale about an elven mage named Freiren, who is forced to come to terms with the mortality of those around her after witnessing the death of her former comrades. As a near immortal being, she embarks on a journey to understand what life means to the humans around her and grapples with finding fulfillment in her own life.

The popular manga, which already had 10 million copies in circulation, has since hit 20 millions copies in circulation after the premiere of the anime adaptation. The manga is written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. As of December 2023, 12 volumes have been released with a 13th volume arriving on April 17th.

‘Freiren: Beyond Journey’s End’ recently completed its first anime season with 28 episodes. There is currently no confirmed release date for a second season, although judging by the popularity of the first season, we can expect a second one on the way soon.
