The live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series just released all of its episodes on Netflix — and let us be the first ones to warn you — reviews haven’t been great. On the bright side, there are bigger and better things coming for the Avatar franchise.
After departing from the production of the live-action series, original creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino are currently developing projects at Avatar Studios, a team under Nickelodeon Animation that is entirely dedicated to the Avatar franchise.
That means animated movies, sequels, and spin-offs that pick up right where Avatar: The Last Airbender left off. Here’s everything that has been announced so far.
The First Movie In The Avatar: The Last Airbender Trilogy Arrives October 10, 2025
Not only will Avatar: The Last Airbender be getting a sequel movie trilogy, it looks to be a theatrical release with the first movie arriving on October 10, 2025. The first of the three movies will focus on Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and the gang in their adult years. Lauren Montgomery has signed on to direct the movie, having previously directed Voltron: Legendary Defender.
Earth Avatar Animated Series Arrives In 2025
The next Avatar animated series featuring the Earth Avatar after Aang and Korra will be coming to Paramount+ in 2025. Not only that, an animated movie featuring this Earth Avatar and their era will be coming to theatres in the years after the show comes out.
Zuko-Focused Animated Movie Coming To Theatres In 2026
An animated movie focused on Prince Zuko will also be coming to theatres in 2026 with a projected date of October 9. This is likely to be the second story in the Avatar: The Last Airbender movie trilogy, although it’s worth noting that each movie in the trilogy will be a separate standalone story.
