With less than two weeks away to Pokanime Planet, THE MAGIC RAIN team is gearing up to cover all of the exciting stage performances, cosplay competitions, panels, and guest appearances happening at Pavilion Bukit Jalil this 23rd to 25th September 2022!
Event tickets are priced affordably at RM10 per day or RM20 for all three days, and you can buy them online now — but what are you getting for your money’s worth? Here’s a run-down of all the biggest highlights.
Music performances by Rina-Hime, Hazuki Rin, Mirowlf, BLOSSOME, Hayate, Samantha Lim Ki, Natcheo & more!
Pokanime Planet boasts a star-studded line-up with musical performances by J-Rock and J-Pop singer Rina-Hime, Hazuki Rin from CrossSouls 十字魂, anime cover singer Mirowlf, J-Rock band Blossome, singer and cosplayer Hayate, anime cover singer Samantha Lim Ki, cover dancer Natcheo, Youtube singer and beatboxer NovaMC, anime flashdance performances by Jenica & Mandy from Sunflower, and even a live cosplay drawing session by artist Jon Tham. With musical acts happening throughout all three days, you’ll never want to leave the stage!
Catch the Cosplay & Skit Competition with judges Fumiko Kriss, Hayate & Nash!
Another exciting stage event is the Cosplay & Skit Competition happening on Saturday, 5:30PM and judged by Fumiko Kriss, Hayate, and Nash from Kuramaker. Most notably, Nash represented Team Malaysia at the World Cosplay Summit 2019, and recently judged and performed at Season4Otaku. If you’d like to catch them in person, make sure to drop by their exhibitor booths during the event!

Did you know that the founder of Pokanime Planet, Rasta Rashid, is also a fashion designer? Eventgoers can expect an infusion of fashion in the event’s festivities, including a Costume Showcase by Sanim Amani, a young designer from MSU. Make sure to check out her session on Saturday, 4:40PM.
Learn how to build an art career with children’s book illustrator Joanne Lew Vriefthoff
Joanne Lew Vriefthoff is a Malaysian-born acclaimed bestselling children’s book illustrator who has illustrated over 60 picture books, middle grade novels, early readers, educational books, and magazines throughout her career so far.
Many of her illustrations focus on relationships, connections, and struggles in children’s daily lives, with a specific focus on themes that help readers better communicate tough topics with their families and friends (for example: Parkinsons, Autism, life and death). Learn how to transform your art hobby into a career during her panel on Friday, 2:30PM.
Uncover the man behind Mokumentary with webcomic artist Daniel Mok
You may not know Daniel Mok, but you may have seen his widely popular webcomic Mokumentary floating around your social media feed, which illustrates his many humorous and relatable thoughts that “come to mind while [he] poops.” Find out the process behind the randomness during his stage panel happening on Friday, 3:30PM.
Talk about anime with panel guests Zamakh and Imran from ML Studios
Zamakh and Imran from ML Studios are Malaysian Youtubers, content creators, and anime reviewers who will be taking to the Pokanime Planet stage to discuss the latest news, insights, and knowledge from the anime scene. Catch their stage panel first thing Saturday morning at 11:00AM.
Join the Star Wars Coswalk & Forum with the Star Wars Malaysia Fan Club
In a galaxy not-so far away, the Star Wars Malaysia Fan Club will also be making an appearance at Pokanime Planet! They will be hosting a Star Wars Coswalk featuring cosplay and props from the Star Wars fiction, and discussing Star Wars in-depth during their forum session on Sunday, 3:30PM. Or if you’re interested in becoming an official member of the club, drop by their exhibitor booth to learn more.
Watch the Lolita Fashion Coswalk presented by Chihaya Bibi & friends
Join Chihaya Bibi and friends as they showcase the cutest fashion from the local Lolita Fashion community on Sunday, 2:00PM! If you’re new to Lolita Fashion, it is a form of street fashion which is inspired by Victorian, Edwardian and Rococo clothing. While Lolita originated from Japan in the 1970s, it has since become popular in countries all over the world, including Malaysia. Learn more about this subculture here.
End the day with vinyl-only DJ sets by Akemi Shizue
Also known as DJ Abang Soulie and AniVintej, Akemi Shizue will be bringing us on a journey to the past. They are a one-of-a-kind, vinyl-only DJ who will be spinning everything from anime theme songs to underground Japanese pop funk at the end of every night.
