Back for the third year running, Comicker’s Union is organising KL Comic Week this weekend at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, in collaboration with TAGCC 2018! With the aim of bridging the gaps between the international and local comic scene, this exhibition will be the first comic exhibition of its scale in Malaysia, featuring the support of comickers from Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan!
Compared to previous years, this year’s showcase will be much larger and robust. Expect to see the work of international masters such as Kurata Yoshimi, Ho Chi Men, Suet Ching, James Teo, Max Lai, D2 and Black Jellyfish. It is also fully supported by the Taiwan Ministry of Culture and Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Malaysia, who will be sending 4 of their veteran artists to promo their comics and strengthen the relations between the Taiwan and Malaysian comic scene. Those artists are Max Lai, Chiu Peng Chin, Chen Guo, and D2.
Event Highlights
Malaysian & International Comic Exhibition
Featuring the works of comic artists from Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and American comic platform Tapas, 22 comic artists will showcase a variety of styles in the show!
Malaysia X Taiwan Comic Relay Marathon
4 Taiwanese artists along with 20 Malaysia comic artists will be drawing a single comic, relay marathon style. The finished work will be presented to the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Malaysia to mark this significant event.
Malaysia X Taiwan Asia’s Comics Market and its Future Prospects
Featuring comic veteran and Taipei Economic and Cultural Office officer Lai You Xian, Malaysian comic artist Alan Quah as well as Comic Fiesta Organizer Nerv Lim, this talk will explore the state of Asia’s Comics Market and its future prospects.
Taiwan Comic Artist Meet, Greet and Signature
Get up close and personal with 4 major figures in the Taiwanese comics industry. There will be special limited edition items to be given out as well!
