Touken Ranbu -ONLINE- will be receiving an English release from gaming platform Johren on February 23, 2021. Originally released in Japanese in 2015, English-speaking players will finally be able to access the game on both PC and mobile platforms in the coming month.
Fans can now pre-register on the game’s official launch website, with a variety of rewards available for pre-registered players.
What is Touken Ranbu?
Touken Ranbu is a turn-based gacha game developed by DMM Games and Nitro+. You play as a “Saniwa”, a sage who is tasked with defending the timeline from evil forces trying to alter the course of history.
To do this, players can summon “Touken Danshi”, the spirits of ancient Japanese swords who have taken human form. The Touken Danshi can then be sent to defend various points in time. Players will also have to upgrade their troops, collect resources, and aim to collect more powerful units as the story progresses.
The game has received a number of anime adaptations, namely Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru by Doga Kobo and Katsugeki: Touken Ranbu by Ufotable. It has also been adapted into a series of stage plays and even a live-action movie, which was released by Toho and Universal Pictures in 2019.
