Would you believe that the Digimon Adventure franchise is hitting its 20 year anniversary this year? Founded in 1999, this franchise has encompassed virtual pet toys, anime, manga, video games, films and even a trading card game. With 20 years of growth, the franchise has constantly tried new things, new concepts and this time they are bringing to us a never before seen collaboration of Digimon and Hatsune Miku!
We can’t deny the fact that the song ‘Butterfly’ is the biggest trademark for the Digimon Adventure series. Capitalizing on that, Toei Animation together with Hatsune Miku released a Music Video that features the original DigiDestined added with some cameo appearance of the original Digital Monster Tamagotchi – which spawned the whole Digimon franchise in the first place!
The song was arranged by MikitoP, a music producer famous for his songs ’39 Music’ and ‘Loki’. Working alongside him in this project is Okiku, the animator who created the video based on Uki Atsuya’s key collaboration visual for this project.
The collaboration doesn’t just feature a new Music Video but even new illustrations from multiple popular illustrators. For now, illustrations from Rella, Sameyama Jirou and Saitou Naoki has been revealed and I’ve got to say the collaboration looks astounding! Some illustrations even feature the other Vocaloid members too.
In addition to all that, there will also be a new Nendroid series coming soon featuring Hatsune Miku in a Agumon costume! Isn’t this just adorable?
They have plenty of things in store for us in this 20th Anniversary, so stay tuned for more information of your favourite DigiDestined!
