PC players, you can stop the bragging now. ‘Stardew Valley’s multiplayer mode is finally coming to console players, with the first big port having arrived on the Nintendo Switch this 12 December 2018!

Similar to the PC version, patch 1.3 will support up to 4 players on online co-op. That means you and your 1-3 friends will need to have Nintendo Switch Online accounts in order to play the game together. But for those of you not willing to add another subscription service to your life, local co-op is also an option for up to 4 consoles.

Unique to the Nintendo Switch, players will also get to enjoy online voice chat and chat box options, which you can use to communicate with other players on your farm – ‘Stardew Valley’-themed emojis included!

Besides all that, 1.3 will also be porting some new single player content from the PC to the Switch. This includes:

  • The Night Market. A travelling festival that will visit Pelican Town for 3 days during the Winter.
  • New character events. This includes secret events that may grant your character permanent bonuses!
  • A “Secret” new collection. If you encounter a strange event during the Winter, it may trigger the secret collection and a brand new adventure!
  • But most importantly, your horses can now wear hats! ‘Nuff said.

Patch 1.3 is available now across all Nintendo e-Shop regions. For more information, visit the ‘Stardew Valley’ Developer Blog here.
