Disney recently selected 21 aspiring female filmmakers from 13 countries as part of their Dream Big Princess initiative in support of the United Nations Foundation’s “Girl Up” movement. These filmmakers will be creating a 20-part documentary series spotlighting trailblazing women from all walks of life and professional fields.

Walt Disney Animation Studio’s Chief Creative Officer, Jennifer Lee, who directed the Oscar-winning animated film ‘Frozen’ and also introduced the project in the video below, will be one of the film’s subjects.

This is the second year Disney is supporting the “Girl Up” movement. Last year was their first, with their debut of the #DreamBigPrincess Global Photography Series, which showcased the work of young female photographers across the globe on Disney’s social media accounts.

For each like and share on #DreamBigPrincess posts, Disney donated $1 to the “Girl Up” movement. This year will be the same for every short film posted on their social media starting 20 October 2018. Donations for “Girl Up” will also be recorded and accepted until 20 November 2018.
