Excitement is already abound as soon as animation studio MAPPA of Yuri on Ice and Terror in Resonance fame revealed their new anime project Vanishing Line, set to premiere in October. The revelation of the promotional poster has also gotten much hype from the anime community, many who are praising the art style, character designs and dark undertones that seem to have been missing for far too long, stating that most anime these days seem to have shifted their focus away from convoluted plotlines.
The setting of the story, Russell City, described as a highly developed and prosperous city, is already giving me the Psycho-Pass vibes. Main characters Sword and Sophie cross paths in search of the meaning of the clue “El Dorado”, a phrase that Sophie was left with from her older brother, and a keyword Sword obtained from trying to uncover the conspiracies that were running deep within the city.
Sword is voiced by Tomokazu Seki, who also voiced Shinya Kogami from Psycho-Pass (see, I’m onto something here). Sophie is voiced by Rie Kugimiya, better known as the voice of Kagura from Gintama, Happy from Fairy Tail, Taiga from Toradora! and Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist. Other main characters of Vanishing Line include Luke, voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki (Haru from Free!) and Gina, voiced by Ami Koshimizu (Ryuko Matoi from Kill la Kill).
As if the amazing line-up of veteran voice actors and key visuals from the poster weren’t enough to get you excited, the key animator of Yuri on Ice and Terror in Resonance, Seong Ho Park, will be making his directorial debut with Vanishing Line.
We can’t wait to see what this anime will have in store for us in October! Are you as excited for Vanishing Line as we are?
