Bluepoch has launched Reverse: 1999‘s highly anticipated Version 3.4 update, “Spring Unending,” as part of the game’s 2.5th anniversary celebration. The update introduces major new content, including two powerful 6-star characters, extensive in-game rewards, and new gameplay modes set within a story inspired by ancient China and martial arts traditions.
At the centre of the update are two new 6-star characters, the most powerful units in Reverse: 1999, including the limited-time character Paper Heron, available only during Phase 1, and Cheng Heguang, arriving in Phase 2. These characters play key roles in the new story content and represent one of the most significant additions to the game’s roster to date.
As part of the anniversary celebration, players can access substantial in-game rewards, including:
- 100 free summons (10 daily free pulls) tied to a selectable 6-star banner
- 30 additional free summons across new banners
- Up to 220 total free summons for new players
- A free garment for Noire, selectable 6-star Artifice, and various discount rewards


New Characters
- Paper Heron (6-star, Limited – Phase 1): A free-spirited Daoist who follows the Way, protecting those in need. Available in the banner “Her Heart-Cut Spring” from April 16 to May 28.
- Cheng Heguang (6-star – Phase 2): A principled and unwavering figure who stands against injustice, arriving May 7 in “Soaring Aspirations.”
- Reed (4-star): A new character obtainable through the updated Pre-Storm Protocol gameplay mode.
New Gameplay & Features
Version 3.4 expands Reverse: 1999 with new and updated systems, including:
- Pre-Storm Protocol (updated): A returning survival and exploration mode with new systems and rewards
- Musae’s Arcade: A brand-new multiplayer party mode where players can team up and earn exclusive rewards
- “Spring Unending”: Investigate a mysterious rhyme in Zhu County and earn event rewards
- Character Storylines: Dedicated narrative arcs for both Paper Heron and Cheng Heguang
Additional activities include anniversary-themed events, rerun banners, new cosmetics, and limited-time gameplay modes designed to reward both new and returning players.
The 2.5th anniversary also introduces:
- Anniversary minigames and community events via a Retro 90’s Forum
- New merchandise pre-orders tied to Version 3.4
- New music releases (EPs) launching across April
- Fan creation contests with major prize pools
