‘My Hero Academia’ Anime To End With Final Season In 2025

The official X (formerly Twitter) account for the My Hero Academia anime has confirmed that the next season will be its last. The 8th and final season is slated to debut in 2025, with no premiere date announced yet.

The news dropped after the release of the final episode of My Hero Academia Season 7, together with a teaser video and poster by character designer Yoshihiko Magose. The video also reveals the returning staff for the final season including chief director Kenji Nagasaki, director Naomi Nakayama, script supervisor Yōsuke Kuroda, character designers Yoshihiko Umakoshi and Hitomi Odashima, composer Yuki Hayashi, and studio BONES.

While fans count down the days to the final season, My Hero Academia: You’re Next is still making the rounds globally. The fourth anime film in the My Hero Academia franchise opened in Japan on August 2nd and premiered globally on October 11th. The movie will be screened by GSC in Malaysia starting November 7th. The franchise will also be collaborating with popular multiplayer game Overwatch 2 on October 17th.

Author Kōhei Horikoshi first published the series in Weekly Shonen Jump in July 2014, and the series came to an end after ten years on August 2024. The manga achieved 100 million copies in cirulation worldwide as of April this year, making it one of Weekly Shonen Jump’s most popular series of all time.
