Ghost of Tsushima Sequel, Ghost of Yōtei, Arrives 2025

Four years after the initial release of Ghost of Tsushima, developers Sucker Punch have revealed a sequel and first look during this morning‘s State of Play broadcast. Ghost of Yōtei is a brand new Ghost game with a new protagonist named Atsu, slated to release in 2025.

Sucker Punch shares that they wanted to create something fresh but familiar with the sequel, looking beyond Jin Sakai’s story and the island of Tsushima, and shifting their focus to the idea of the Ghost instead. This led them to Ghost of Yōtei: a new protagonist, a new story to unfold, and a new region of Japan to explore.

The game takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. The story is set in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, a towering peak in the heart of Ezo, an area of Japan known as Hokkaido in present day. In 1603, this area was outside the rule of Japan, and filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers.

The trailer revealed during this morning’s State of Play gives us our first glimpse at our girlboss main character Atsu, the various landscapes she explores, and the people (and animals) she meets along the way.
