The Biggest Video Game Announcements From Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024

Gamescom Cologne, one of the biggest gaming conferences in the world, livestreamed its opening night on YouTube and Twitch last night. From new trailers and announcements, to world premieres (although no news on Hollow Knight: Silksong), we’ve recapped all the biggest announcements you missed in one place.

1. Dave The Diver Announces Collaborations With mxmtoon, Balatro & Potion Craft

Dave The Diver continues to be the king of unexpected IP integrations, as they announce upcoming collaborations with singer-songwriter mxmtoon and indie darlings Balatro and Potion Craft. All three collaborations arrive this October.

2. Borderlands 4 Gets First Teaser Trailer; Arriving 2025

In this next installment of the definitive looter shooter, players will assume the role of a legendary Vault Hunter as they blast their way through hordes of enemies in search of new treasures to loot on an all-new planet. Borderlands 4 arrives in 2025.

3. Persona 3 Reload DLC Teases Persona 5’s Joker

Bet you never saw this coming. Persona 5’s Joker returns as a challenge battle in the upcoming Persona 3 Reload DLC, Episode Aigis -The Answer- arriving September 10th, 2024 as the third and final part of the Persona 3 Reload: Expansion Pass.

4. Techland Announces New Standalone Game, Dying Light: The Beast

Techland revealed a thrilling first look at Dying Light: The Beast, the upcoming standalone adventure set in the zombie-infested world of Dying Light. Play as Kyle Crane, a legendary hero who breaks free after years of brutal experiments. Now, he must realize there’s more at stake than just revenge. No release date has been revealed.

5. Dune: Awakening Reveals First Look At Gameplay

We get our first look at gameplay for the upcoming open world survival MMO, Dune: Awakening. The 5-minute video offers a glimpse into a player’s journey from survivor to spice hunter; from character customisation and crafting, to building reputation and playing politics. There’s also a Sandworm cameo.

6. Creators of Little Nightmares Introduces Two New Games

Tarsier Studios, the creators of Little Nightmares I & II, announced not one, but two dread-filled tales coming soon to all platforms. First up is REANIMAL, a terrifyingly twisted horror adventure following a brother and sister who have to go through hell to rescue their friends. Next is something that will delight Little Nightmares fans, as Tarsier Studios announced the third installment arriving in 2025.

7. Sid Meier’s Civilization VII Reveals First Look At Gameplay; Launching February 11, 2025

The award-winning strategy game franchise returns on February 11, 2025 with a revolutionary new chapter. Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is a turn-based strategy game that empowers you to build the greatest empire the world has ever known! 8. Marvel Rivals Officially Launches December 6, 2024

Marvel Rivals officially launches on December 6, 2024 with all heroes unlocked and free-to-play at launch and beyond. Not only that, the new trailer revealed Captain America and The Winter Soldier in battle to save the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda!

9. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Arrives December 9, 2024

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle finally gets a launch date; arriving December 9, 2024 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass, and Spring 2025 for PlayStation 5.The new trailer also gives us a proper look at its first-person gameplay, including some of Indy’s tools from the whip and colt to his trusty journal and camera.
