Talk about a sweet collaboration! CAPCOM’s upcoming release, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, has revealed their special collaboration with an over 200-year-old traditional confectionery shop, ‘Tsuruya Yoshinobu‘.
In the game, where you can feel the various seasons of “Wa” (”和” in Japanese culture), traditional Japanese sweets that color each season will appear as the daily indulgence of the Maiden, Yoshiro. These traditional sweets were meticulously crafted by the renowned Kyoto confectionery shop, ‘Tsuruya Yoshinobu’, and reproduced through 3D scanning.
Founded by the first generation Tsuruya Ihei in 1803 in Nishijin, Kyoto, this long-established confectionery shop boasts a history of over 220 years. Upholding the family motto of “Creating Fine Things,” they preserve traditional techniques while devising new wagashi (Japanese sweets) and cafes that incorporate contemporary sensibilities.
Besides this unique collaboration, you can access various helpful upgrades in your main Tent at the base. You can prepare for the purification of the next village by customizing various elements, such as attaching “Tsuba Guard” to your sword, changing the “Mazo Talisman” you carry, and enhancing the villagers.
The Tsuba Guard are imbued with the power of the gods, and by using their “Spiritual Power,” you can unleash special abilities. These techniques include powerful swift slashes that deal significant damage, support abilities for villagers, and barriers that protect against the Seethe invasions and attacks. There are various secret techniques available.
You can also harness the power of masks imbued with divine power to assign villagers to various Roles. At the base, you can enhance the masks that govern these Roles. Enhancing them increases attack power and unlocks role-specific skills.
You can freely reset the enhancements of the masks. This allows you to customize them according to the strategy for each stage. For example, before a stage where many flying Seethe appear, you can reset the enhancements of Roles that excel in close combat and enhance those that specialize in long-range attacks. Experience the deep strategic elements of this game not only during battles but also in the preparation stages.
In addition to the previously revealed professions such as the Woodcutter, skilled in close combat, the Archer, proficient in long-range attacks, and the Ascetic, capable of slowing down enemy movements for a certain period, two new Roles have been unveiled.
CAPCOM also released new behind-the-scenes footage, which gives players a glimpse of the development team’s dedication that brought the game’s unique world to life through its stages, character design, and sound.
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess will be released on Xbox Game Pass, as well as on Xbox Series X | S, Windows, PlayStation5, and Steam on 19th July 2024. The game is available for pre-order now.
