Overwatch has seen many collabs with various anime, cartoons, other games, and even K-pop groups, and their latest team-up involves the uber popular NieR: Automata! The event introduces 5 new legendary skins, a NieR-themed lobby and more.
Since its release in 2017, NieR has sold over 10 million copies and has been nominated for several awards. NieR Automata (or more specifically, 2B herself) has been featured in collaborations with over 30 games, such as Final Fantasy XIV, Soul Calibur 6 and even Fall Guys.
The 5 New Legendary Skins
Starting with one of the most iconic heroines in gaming history, 2B will be played by none other than fan favourite, Kiriko! Was there any doubt?
Accompanying her are Lifeweaver as Adam, Wuyang as 9S, Mercy as Commander White, and Vendetta as A2. As usual, along with their new skins, the heroes’ weapons will also receive NieR-themed appearance changes. Also present are Pod 042 and Pod 153, who’ll be paired with 2B and 9S, respectively.
Unfortunately for NieR fans, Emil does not make an appearance at all in this new collab, which is a shame, because the thought of his creepy, large head as Wrecking Ball is sending me. Alternatively, Zen could also have been Emil, not only adopting his looks, but transforming his balls into Emil-heads too!
A New Themed Lobby And Other Rewards
As mentioned above, there will be a new themed lobby serving as the hub. Co-designed by Fujisaka Kimihiko and Kazuma Koda, two of NieR: Automata’s artists, players can enjoy the gorgeous NieR artwork whilst queueing for matches!
Additionally, as with other collabs, there will be challenges to complete to earn some rewards. For this collaboration, the rewards are new NieR-themed namecards, titles, and a special weapon charm.
