Takara Tomy to Open First Southeast Asian Tomica Brand Store in Kuala Lumpur

Japanese toy manufacturer Takara Tomy will open its first Tomica Brand Store in Southeast Asia at Suria KLCC in Kuala Lumpur on December 18. The store, which marks the company’s third overseas Tomica store following outlets in Shanghai and Beijing, will be located inside Toys“R”Us on the mall’s second floor.

Designed to resemble an oversized Tomica package, the store features several dedicated experience zones, including:

  • TOMICA WALL: A display of more than 2,000 Tomica vehicles.
  • Wheel Table: A central installation built from stacked wheel motifs.
  • Tomica “Kidult” Area: A section aimed at adult collectors and hobbyists.
  • Recommendation Corner: A space for showcasing new releases.
  • Tomica History: An exhibit highlighting the brand’s legacy.

The Kuala Lumpur store will offer the same merchandise available at all Tomica stores worldwide, including two exclusive items: the Tomica Brand Store Original Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport, and the Tomica Brand Store Original Lamborghini Veneno, both priced at RM39.90 each. These items can only be found at Tomica Brand Stores in Shanghai and Beijing, as well as China’s four Tomica Kidult Select Stores.

According to Shunsuke Takeuchi, Senior Executive Officer of Takara Tomy’s Brand Business Division, the upcoming Malaysian expansion follows the brand’s strong results in China. The Shanghai store, which marked its one-year anniversary in September 2025, achieved roughly double its projected sales in that time, while the Beijing store recorded more than twice the amount of planned sales within its first month of opening.

“We have welcomed many visitors, including families and kidults, and feel firsthand how deeply Tomica is loved by customers across Asia. We will continue to share the appeal of Tomica with the world,” Takeuchi shared.
