Kuro Games has unveiled the full details for Wuthering Waves Version 2.8, titled “To the City Set in Amber,” arriving November 20. The update brings players to the Chronorift Metropolis, also known as Honami City, alongside new quests, two new Resonators, extensive quality-of-life upgrades, and the debut of a major new explorable zone.
New Story Arc
Following the conclusion of the Rinascita arc, Rover picks up an unfamiliar frequency on the Black Shores, leading to the discovery of a rift connected to an unexplored Sonoro Sphere. Entering it transports players to Honami City, a once-prosperous commercial center devastated decades ago by the destructive phenomenon known as the Lament.
Now sealed within a Sonoro Sphere, the metropolis has become a distorted world where skyscrapers are overtaken by overgrowth and seawater has flooded entire districts. The Lament’s influence persists, creating anomalies and trapping the city in an endless time loop. Its former citizens have become “Left Behind”, phantom echoes repeating the routines of their past lives. Rover’s arrival becomes the first disturbance to the cycle in years.
Two new main quests, Chapter II Act XII: Stagnant Dawn on Wastelands and Chapter II Act XII: Segue Flowing Starlight in the Iriswill unlock alongside the update.
New Resonators
Version 2.8 also introduces two playable characters:
Chisa is a 5-Star Havoc Resonator who uses a Broadblade. Wielding massive scissors that can transform into a high-powered chainsaw, she attacks along geometric trajectories and can mark, pull, and slice enemies with precision. Her Resonance Liberation reveals enemy weak points and provides healing for allies.
Buling is an Electro Resonator from Huanglong, is a cheerful Taoist adept at talismans, divination, and sensing unseen frequencies. Using a Rectifier, copper coins, and a magic bell, Buling creates formations, summons lightning, and immobilizes enemies. Her combat revolves around building and consuming Trigrams, culminating in a Resonance Liberation that unleashes a powerful thunder spell within an expanding formation.
Major Quality-of-Life Improvements
The update also introduces several player-requested improvements:
- One-click Echo absorption: All absorbable Echoes in a given area can now be collected with a single action, with an expanded range in Nightmare Nest zones.
- Auto Supplement system: Ascension and skill upgrade menus now feature an Auto Supplement button that automatically gathers needed materials through Synthesis, Conversion, or Supply Packs. If materials remain insufficient, the system provides direct shortcuts to acquisition sources.
PS5 Collector’s Edition
Kuro Games also confirmed that a Wuthering Waves PS5 Collector’s Edition is scheduled for release in Spring 2026, with more details to come via official channels.
