Malaysian-made idle desktop pet game Weyrdlets has launched its biggest update yet, titled “Fishing and Friends”. The update was first teased during the South East Asia Games Showcase, featuring a new map, a new third-person mode, and, of course, adorable new pets.
What’s New
- New Map Area: Cozy Cove is a brand new extension to the existing playground, designed as a peaceful beach area with sand, sea, a lighthouse, and a pier. Players can fish, take on small quests, or simply hang out with friends. They can even join each other’s lobbies, or create their own private space to chill and explore together.
- Third-Person Pet Mode: For the first time, players can play as their pet! Explore the playground and Cozy Cove in third-person view, chat with others players, or even toss water balloons at friends.
- Fishing: Players can now fish alone or with friends in the sea. Caught fish can be traded, eaten, or simply shown off!
- Text Chat in Cozy Cove: A new in-game text chat system is now available for players in multiplayer rooms, making it easier to connect, plan, or just say hi while hanging out.
- New NPC – Nessie: Nessie is a glamorous new merchant at Cozy Cove, who offers exclusive items you won’t find anywhere else on the island. Players can trade fish with her, or just stop by for a chat!
- New NPC – The Saplings: Strange little saplings have popped up around Cozy Cove. They don’t say much, but they’re easter eggs for a game mode currently in development.
- Emote Wheel: Now that pets are playable, players can also express themselves using a new emote wheel. More emotes are planned in future updates!
- Mini-Games & Small Quests: Scattered throughout the playground are small interactive events and quests. Players can join in and earn some special rewards!
- New Steam Achievements: New achievements have been added for players who love completing every challenge!
- New MiniPets – Biji & Kotak: Fans will be able to discover two new MiniPets, Biji and Kotak, who are original creations from the Malaysian animation studio Hide and Seeds. These adorable MiniPets can now be adopted through a new collaboration DLC.
