Crunchyroll Premieres First Look At ‘Sekiro’ Anime Adaptation, ‘Sekiro: No Defeat’

Crunchyroll officially revealed Sekiro: No Defeat, its anime adaptation of Sekiro: Shadow Dies Twice, during the Opening Night Live ceremony at gamescom 2025. The anime will exclusively stream on Crunchyroll worldwide in 2026, excluding Japan, China, Korea, Russia and Belarus.

Sekiro: No Defeat is being developed as a co-production between Kadokawa, Crunchyroll, Qzil.la and ARCH. The main three cast members from the game will reprise their roles for the anime, starring Daisuke Namikawa as Wolf, Miyuki Satou as Kuro/The Divine Heir and Kenjiro Tsuda as Genichiro Ashina.

Director Kenichi Kutsuna shared, “We are taking on the monumental task of animating the breathtakingly beautiful Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. In doing so, we are pouring every ounce of our artistic vision and passion for beauty into its production. The final product is being crafted to be a truly memorable experience, one that will leave a lasting impression on both dedicated fans of the game and those who are discovering the world of Sekiro for the very first time. Please look forward to it.”

Kutsuna will be joined by Shunsuke Fukui as Deputy Director, alongside Kaito Moki as Chief Animation Director and Takashi Mukoda as Action Animation Director. The script will be written by Takuya Satou, with Takahiro Kishida serving as character designer, and Shuta Hasunuma as composer.
