Michelle Yeoh To Star In English Dub Of ‘Nezha 2’, Releasing This August

A24 and CMC Pictures will be producing an English-language version of Nezha 2, starring Oscar-winning Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh. The English-language Nezha 2 will premiere in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand on August 22, though it is currently unknown if this version will air in Asian regions.

Nezha 2 is the sequel to 2019’s Nezha, an animated film based on the Chinese mythological character of the same name. It follows Nezha, a young boy who turns out to be a god-like being with magical powers, as he encounters various figures from Chinese mythology. It is notable for being the highest-grossing animated film of all time, earning over $2.2 billion in box-office revenue alone.

Michelle Yeoh shared in a statement: “I’m honored to be part of ‘Nezha 2,’ a landmark in Chinese animation and a powerful reminder of how universal our stories can be. Sharing this with audiences in English is such a joy, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience the wonder, heart, spectacular artistry and magic of this film on the big screen.”

Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to catch an exclusive screening of Nezha 2 at TGV Cinemas. Check out our review of the film here.
