Independent game developer Masala Games has revealed that Detective Dotson: The Movie, the animated film companion piece to its cosy mystery game for PC (Steam and Windows Store) Detective Dotson, will launch with the game on April 24, 2025.
Detective Dotson: The Movie will be released in Hindi with English subtitles. Facilitated by DTR Consultancy and recorded and mixed at Kambay Studioss, it features voice talent from the Hindi releases of blockbusters such as Avengers: Endgame, Deadpool & Wolverine, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and more.

Made in Unreal Engine 5, Detective Dotson: The Movie focuses on the titular Dotson. He’s a grieving amateur detective thrust into a deadly conspiracy involving a corrupt corporate empire, a mysterious assassin, and a shocking family secret, as he races to stop a catastrophic attack during a high-stakes cricket match and more importantly, find out who he really is.
“When we showed off Detective Dotson: The Movie to the public earlier this year, the feedback was loud and clear: the original English dub, while passable, didn’t have the charm moviegoers expect from their films which comes from a native language release,” says Shalin Shodhan, Founder and CEO of Masala Games. “This forced us to rethink our approach. Thankfully, this has, in our opinion, resulted in a far more polished movie than we could have imagined.”
“When Masala Games approached us to do the Hindi dub we were more than happy to oblige,” says Sanket Mhatre, renowned voiceover artiste whose recent roles include Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine and Hawkeye in Avengers: Endgame. “Video games crossing over into film is the natural order in developed markets and we’re happy to be a part of India’s first video game transmedia effort.”
Detective Dotson the game will launch with a Rs. 500 price on Steam and Windows Store (before 10% launch discount). All buyers of the Detective Dotson game will receive access to the movie. Internationally, Detective Dotson the game will retail for $20.
To celebrate the launch of the movie, Masala Games has also partnered with select content creators to host watch parties of it with their own bespoke versions of the Hindi dub of the film this month. These include:
