Malaysian children’s animated television series Upin & Ipin will be getting its first open-world console and PC game built on Unreal Engine 5, titled Upin & Ipin Universe. The game is set to release in 2025.
Upin & Ipin Universe is a partnership between Les’ Copaque Production, Malaysia’s leading animation studio and the creative force behind the Upin & Ipin franchise, and Streamline Studios, the Malaysian division of Streamline Media Group.
With Upin & Ipin captivating audiences in over 100 countries and boasting immense popularity in Southeast Asia, particularly in Malaysia and Indonesia, the franchise has garnered billions of views on YouTube and is featured on major platforms like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime.
An official video game is the next step for the franchise, set to bring the charm of tropical Southeast Asian village life to a global gaming audience. Fans who grew up with the franchise can look forward to playing as both Upin and Ipin, as they experience a fully original and canonical storyline written for the game.
The open-world environment of the game is also inspired by Kampung Durian Runtuh, the fictional village from Upin & Ipin, and will be filled with familiar faces and stories from the animated show.
