Nintendo Reveals New Interactive Alarm Clock, Alarmo

Nintendo has revealed a new piece of tech — and it’s not the Nintendo Switch 2. The Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo is an interactive alarm clock that makes you feel like you’re waking up in your favourite Nintendo video games. It is also an incredibly expensive alarm clock with a hefty $99.99 price tag, but is it worth the money?

What seems to differentiates Alarmo from your average alarm clock is its motion sensor technology, which responds to your body’s movements so you can snooze, adjust the volume, or turn off your alarm with a wave of your hand. If you’re not a fan of motion sensors, or if you share a bed with more than one person, you can also opt for Button Mode for a more accurate experience.

The alarm sequence features familiar animations, sounds, and characters from titles like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 3, Pikmin 4, and Ring Fit Adventure. Additional titles will also become available in free updates when you link your Nintendo Account.

Alarmo comes with various features for different kinds of sleepers, like Steady Mode for an alarm that gradually gets more intense the longer you stay in bed, or Gentle Mode for a more consistent experience. There’s even a sleep tracking feature to see how much you move around in your sleep, and more.

For those who want to bring their Nintendo immersion out of bed, there’s even an option to add Nintendo ambiance to your general living space with hourly chimes and Sleepy Sounds themed around your chosen scene.

Is it worth paying almost MYR500 for an alarm clock? Maybe not. But is it a cool idea that Nintendo clearly poured a lot of love and thought into? Definitely. For more information, check out the Alarmo shop page here.
