Another Nintendo Direct has come and gone, without any news about the new Nintendo Switch, as they were quick to preface. But the double feature Indie World Showcase and Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase still contained plenty of exciting announcements from Coffee Talk to CAPCOM.
In case you missed the 40-minute Nintendo Direct, here are all the biggest announcements you need to know!
1. LocalThunk Launches ‘Balatro: Friends of Jimbo’, Free DLC Out Today
The first explosive announcement from the Indie World Showcase featured four exciting collaborations coming to LocalThunk’s Balatro — The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, Vampire Survivors, Dave The Diver, and Among Us. The free update is available today.
2. ‘Neva’ Comes To The Switch On October 15, 2024
Neva, the next emotionally-charged title from the team behind the critically acclaimed GRIS, has announced its release date on October 15th, 2024. The game follows Alba, a young woman bound to a curious wolf cub following a traumatic encounter with dark forces. Together they embark on a perilous journey through a once-beautiful world as it slowly decays around them.
3. Toge Productions Reveals New ‘Coffee Talk Tokyo’, Arriving 2025
Toge Productions, the Indonesian game developers and publishers behind Coffee Talk and Kriegsfront Tactics, announced their newest title arriving in 2025. Coffee Talk Tokyo is the next installment in the beloved visual novel franchise, set in the backstreets of Tokyo with a brand new cast of characters inspired by Japanese folklore.
4. ‘Sea of Stars’ Announces Free DLC, Arriving 2025
The Sea of Stars: Throes of the Watchmaker DLC finds the Solstice Warriors Valere and Zale venturing into the miniature clockwork world of Horloge. In this magical land where denizens are threatened by a cursed carnival, our heroes will need to adapt to unfamiliar rules if their Sun and Moon powers are to manifest. The DLC arrives free to all platforms this Spring 2025.
5. ‘PowerWash Simulator’ Reveals Shrek Special Pack, Arriving This Fall 2024
PowerWash Simulator is traveling to a land far, far away. FuturLab and Square Enix announced the release of the Shrek Special Pack which will cover five iconic maps from the Shrek Universe, including Shrek’s Swamp, Dragon’s Lair and three other unrevealed locations. The Shrek Special Pack launches this Fall 2024.
6. CAPCOM Launches Two New Fighting Game Collections On The Switch
CAPCOM had two big announcements during last night’s Nintendo Direct. First up is MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, a collection of seven epic titles arriving September 12th, 2024. Also coming to the Switch is Capcom Fighting Collection 2, which features a selection of eight CAPCOM and SNK crossover titles, arriving 2025.
7. ‘Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma’ Lands On The Switch In Spring 2025
The classic action-RPG and life-simulation gameplay beloved by Rune Factory fans is boldly reimagined in Guardians of Azuma, arriving this Spring 2025. Play as an Earth Dancer in the eastern lands of Azuma and call upon unique powers to battle blighted monsters and restore the land, people, villages, and even gods to their natural glory.
