Announced during CAPCOM NEXT last weekend, the landmark zombie game ‘Dead Rising’ is being remastered and released this September 19th, 2024. Powered by the RE Engine, the remaster retains its unique gameplay with updated graphics, playability, and sound.
First released in 2006, ‘Dead Rising’ is a title centered around zombies. The hordes of zombies filling the screen and relentless gore made a significant impact on gamers at the time. Its wildly unrestricted action and unique gameplay, such as allowing players the freedom to survive within time constraints, quickly made it a popular series.
The Deluxe Remaster of the first instalment unfolds in the ordinary city of Willamette, Colorado. When roads to the town are suddenly blocked by state troops, communications are cut off, and all radio frequences are regulated, freelance journalist Frank West heads to the scene in chase of a scoop. That was the beginning of his 72 hours of hell.
With the clock ticking down until rescue arrives, will you help the survivors remaining in the mall? Will you protect only yourself? Or will you uncover the truth behind the incident and turn it into a scoop? It all depends on the player’s actions.
The game features freeform gameplay, exaggerated gore with a darkly humorous edge, and an endless respect for B-movie horror tropes. It embodies the series’ distinctive traits from its inception, earning a special place in fans’ hearts.
Pre-orders for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster are available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Pre-orders for all platforms also come with three additional costumes and background music for Frank West. The background music played within the shopping mall can be changed to the music you own.
Additionally, the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Digital Deluxe includes 17 extra costumes and corresponding background music. CAPCOM has teased the silhouettes and names for the costumes, but we’ll have to stay tuned for more reveals later!
