Revealed during the Paramount panel at CinemaCon 2024, Keanu Reeves will be voicing Shadow the Hedgehog in the third Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The movie will be premiering on December 20, 2024.
The CinemaCon panel also previewed some exclusive footage to lucky fans, which featured a depressed and out of shape Dr. Robotnik who gets his groove back after creating Shadow the Hedgehog.
Shadow the Hedgehog first appeared in the Sonic Adventure 2 video game as an anti-hero, originally driven by revenge after the death of his best friend Maria Robotnik, but later vows to keep his promise to her that he would protect the world from danger.
Fans were also quick to point out that this is the second time Keanu Reeves and Idris Elba have starred together in a video game related project. The first one being, you guessed it, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.
Reeves isn’t the only newcomer to the Sonic the Hedgehog cast. Other new additions include Krysten Ritter, Alyla Browne, James Wolk, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernández, and Jorma Taccone. Alyla Browne has also confirmed that she will be playing Maria Robotnik.
