Lionsgate has announced that they are producing an animated series for the Twilight franchise, as confirmed by Vice Chairman Michael Burns during a Q&A at the Morgan Stanley media conference.
“We’re going to go out with the Twilight series, an animated series, I think there’ll be a lot of interest in that,” he said. The news was originally leaked in April last year, although no writer or voice cast has been confirmed for the project.
Based on the popular book series by Stephanie Meyer, the Twilight Saga is one of Lionsgate’s biggest movie franchises; its final movie, Breaking Dawn: Part 2, grossed more than $3.4B globally.
Another major Lionsgate franchise receiving the television treatment is John Wick. “I think we’ll take one of our great action franchises starring Keanu Reeves, I think it’ll be a television series,” shared Burns.
