Here’s Every Voice Actor In Marvel’s X-Men ’97 Animated Series

The first trailer for X-Men ’97 is dropped last week, including a final release date on Disney+ this March 20th. The highly anticipated continuation to X-Men: The Animated Series is picking up right where the original series left off in 1997 — and they’re bringing back several of the original voice cast while they’re at it!

Although not every actor will be returning to the same role, with some new actors taking up the heavy mantle, you can definitely expect some familiar names to appear as supporting characters throughout the series.

Here’s the breakdown of every voice actor in Marvel’s X-Men ’97 (that we know so far!)

Cal Dodd as Wolverine

Beginning with the fan favourite mutant that’s a little rough around the edges, Cal Dodd will be reprising his role as Wolverine in X-Men ’97. Since originating the role in X-Men: The Animated Series, he has regularly played Wolverine in several video games over the years including X-Men vs. Street Fighter, X-Men: Children of the Atom, and in the Marvel vs. Capcom series of games.

Ray Chase as Cyclops

Ray Chase will be taking over the mantle from Norm Spencer, after the original actor’s passing in 2020. He is best known for playing Noctis in Final Fantasy XV, Brother Nier in NieR Replicant, Alphen in Tales of Arise, among various other video game credits.

Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey

This isn’t the first time Jennifer Hale has voiced Jean Grey, but she will be taking over from original voice actor Catherine Disher in X-Men ’97. She is best known for playing Commander Shepherd in Mass Effect and Samus Aran from Metroid Prime, but kids from the 90s may also know her from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and The Powerpuff Girls.

Lenore Zann as Rogue

The original voice for Rogue, Lenore Zann, returns to reprise her role for X-Men ’97. Besides her role as the power-absorbing mutant, Zann has had a colourful career from portraying Marilyn Monroe in “Hey Marilyn!” on Broadway, to becoming a Member of Parliament from 2019 to 2021.

Holly Chou as Jubilee

Alyson Court is stepping down from her role as Jubilee with Holly Chou taking her place. This is following Court’s tweet about how Jubilee should be played by a young Asian talent instead. Chou is most recently known for her role as Chiki in Blue Eye Samurai, but also has previous voice roles in Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name and Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores.

George Buza as Beast

Another voice actor reprising his original role, George Buza will be returning to play Beast! Similar to Wolverine’s voice actor, Buza has contributed his voice to many X-Men video games over the years. He played Beast in X-Men: Mutant Academy 2, and voiced Colossus in X-Men: Children of the Atom and Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes.

Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm

Alison Sealy-Smith also returns for a repeat performance as Storm! After originating the role in X-Men: The Animated Series, she later went on to play Storm in X-Men: Mutant Academy 2 and also had acting roles in films like Dark Water and Loser.

A. J. LoCascio as Gambit

Gambit has already changed hands three times since X-Men: The Animated Series. First played by Chris Potter, then replaced by Tony Daniels, and now A.J. LoCascio takes on the mantle. LoCascio is known for his roles in Voltron: Legendary Defender and Back To The Future: The Game.

Matthew Waterson as Magneto

Matthew Waterson takes over the role of Magneto from the late David Hemblen. Waterson has previously voiced Transfiguration professor Charles Rockwood in Hogwarts: Legacy, Phil in The Croods: Family Tree, and Dragan in Castlevania.

Christopher Britton as Mister Sinister

Mister Sinister is confirmed to be the main villain of X-Men ’97 with original voice actor Christopher Britton reprising his role. Britton has had a prolific career across theatre, film, and television including roles in Death Note, Riverdale, and Locke & Key.
