Ukiyo Studios, a Melbourne-based games marketing agency, will be bringing a stacked showcase of 27 games to Taipei Game Show 2024 this January 25th to 28th. This will be part of the event’s Indie House area which will feature more than 150 indie games from 123 indie game developers and publishers across 16 countries and regions globally.
Representing their homebase are Brisbane-based Spider Nest Games and Prideful Sloth and their respective titles, Vault of the Void and Go-Go Town. Attendees will also get to experience the 2.0 Open Beta for CCG rogue-like Vault of the Void first-hand. From across the pond is horror-fishing game DREDGE by New Zealand’s Black Salt Games, which was recently nominated at The Game Awards 2023 for Best Independent Game.
The Ukiyo Studios’ selection of Japanese games is an eclectic mix of deck builders, factory simulation and roguelike strategy genres. Two to watch out for are ShapeHero Factory and Vivid World by ASOBISM, games with unique premises and a never before seen art aesthetic.
In partnership with Critical Reflex, Ukiyo Studios will also be bringing ten of the publisher’s most hotly anticipated titles to Taipei. Fans will remember rhythm dungeon crawling Freaked Fleapit and Metroidvania-like Altered Alma, with their gorgeous art styles. But a new one to watch is Drowned Lake, a horror game about uncovering forbidden secrets of the Brazilian rainforest.
In addition to exhibiting games, Ukiyo Studios, in partnership with Acquire Corp. and Aniplex, will be hosting the stage event Acquire Game Show 2024. Happening on January 28th at 12PM, the event highlights include:
- A talk between Octopath Traveller game director, Keisuke Miyauchi and Masashi Takahashi, a producer from Square Enix
- Early live showings of upcoming Acquire titles Scars of Mars and C.A.R.D.S. RPG: The Misty Battlefield alongside their producers
- An Aniplex X Acquire developer showcase on Ancient Weapon Holly and the newly announced Hookah Haze
