KLP48, a brand new AKB48-type idol group, will debut in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this Summer 2024! This comes 12 years after the establishment of JKT48 in Indonesia, the first overseas sister group for the legendary Japanese idol musical girl group, AKB48.
For the unacquainted, AKB48 has sold more records than any other female musical act in Japanese history. They currently remain among the highest-earning musical acts in Japan and the fifth-best-selling girl group worldwide. Their global idol project has also received great praise for their growth in the international entertainment scene.
This marks the 10th overseas sister group for AKB48 and the 5th Southeast Asian sister group, following JKT48 (Indonesia), MKL48 (Philippines), BNK48 and CGM48 (Thailand).
