17 Southeast Asian Games Featured At Gamescom Asia 2022

As one of the biggest gaming industry events in Southeast Asia, Gamescom Asia boasted a massive showcase of trailers and interviews with game developers from across the region. All of this was part of their online exclusive STUDIO showcase under the Entertainment Zone which streamed live to Twitch, Youtube, and Facebook on the 23rd of October 2022.

The 6-hour session kicked off with a tribute to the Southeast Asian video games that are making waves and leaving their mark on the gaming industry; proving time and again that our region has no shortage of creativity, talent, and passion.

1. My Lovely Wife (GameChanger Studio)

My Lovely Wife is a dating, management, and alchemy simulator mixed up in one cauldron of love and madness. You play as Jake, a loving husband and grieving widower who is willing to do anything to reunite with his beloved wife. Even if it means summoning, seducing, and sacrificing dozens of succubi to create a vessel for his wife’s soul.

2. Krut: The Mythic Wings (RSU Horizon, Good Job Multimedia)

Based on the 2018 Thai animated feature-length film, “Krut: The Himmaphan Warriors”, this hack and slash, side-scrolling platformer with beautiful 3D graphics follows the adventure of a Garuda warrior on the enchanted island, Himmaphan. There, he meets a mysterious figure who entrusts him with a powerful artifact, the Mythic Wings.

3. DreadHaunt (Digital Happiness)

If you’re a fan of multiplayer horror games, DreadHaunt is the next title to watch. You and your friends play as five Class E field agents tasked with securing and establishing initial containment over anomalous entities, objects, or supernatural phenomenon. But there’s a twist: one of your allies is possessed by the demonic entity, and it’s your turn to survive the haunting.

4. Graveless (Digital Happiness)

Another one for the horror game fans, Graveless is a single-player hack and slash dungeon crawler set in the realm of chaos where immortality is no longer myth and fiction. Your adventure will be brimming with threats from the Immortals, so master your abilities to become the ultimate harbinger of death. For the lore hunters, uncover a multilayered story told in fragments throughout your pilgrimage.

5. SIMULACRA 3 (Kaigan Games)

Simulacra is back for its third chapter of found phone horror! This time, the charming town of Stonecreek faces a series of mysterious disappearances linked to an eerie symbol. Play as the intern at the local newspaper, tasked with assisting the town’s star journalist with her investigation. Your only lead is the phone of the missing Paul Castillo, which you’ll need to hack to find any clues left behind.

6. A Space for the Unbound (Mojiken Studio)

From the creators of When The Past Was Around comes a new slice-of-life adventure game set in rural Indonesia around the late 90s. A Space For The Unbound follows the relationship between two high school sweethearts, Atma and Raya, as they grapple with self-discovery, the end of their high school years, and a mysterious supernatural power that threatens their very existence.

7. Ghostlore (AT-AT Games)

Ghostlore is an “eastpunk” action role playing game where you battle with monsters from Southeast Asian folklore. Inspired by classic ARPGs like Diablo 2 and Titan Quest, the game features beautiful 2D isometric art, local co-op multiplayer with up to four players, and procedurally generated maps inspired by the developers’ home country of Singapore.

8. Skull And Bones (Ubisoft Singapore)

Inspired by the Indian Ocean during the Golden Age of Piracy, rise the ranks from an outcast to infamous pirate in this upcoming action-adventure game. Grow your infamy by taking on risky contracts, engage in brutal naval combat against other ships, and customise every aspect including your character, ships, and even arsenal of weapons. 9. MARGO – On the Brink (Kodots Games)

MARGO – On the Brink is a turn-based role playing game where you play as a nameless girl trapped deep inside the crumbling realities called The Brink. 10. GigaBash (Passion Republic Games)

Passion Republic Games makes an explosive entrance with their debut title, GigaBash, a multiplayer arena brawler where you can battle as either a rampaging Titan or a Titan-hunting mecha. 11. Valthirian Arc Hero School Story 2 (Agate International)

12. Paper Ghost Stories: Third Eye Open (Cellar Vault Games)

Third Eye Open is the first full-sized game from the award-winning Paper Ghost Stories series, which is known for its distinctive “paper theatre” aesthetic. At Your Service is a wacky couch co-op that’s all about cleaning. Drive your company van and visit futuristic and fantasy themed homes with up to four players. The goal is to get the homes clean and tidy before their owners get angry, but watch out for funny home owners determined to get in your way, including bumbling wizards casting spells, kids setting off explosives, and grumpy dads making coffee!

16. Kabaret (Persona Theory Games)

From the creators of Fires at Midnight comes a brand new visual novel featuring Southeast Asian myths and folklore. You play as Jebat, a young man cursed into a monster and his journey into the realm called “Alam Bunian”. After being taken in by the charistmatic owner of Kabaret, known only as The Caretaker, he is tasked with deciphering tea leaves in order to gather information on how to break his curse.

17. Sigil of the Magi (Yongjustyong)

For those who enjoy strategic thinking, Sigil of the Magi is a new turn-based, roguelike deckbuilding game that challenges your ability to think tactically.
