Here’s 5 Amazing Cartoons You Might Have Missed

In the last few years of Western animation, we’ve had the pleasure of saying goodbye to many now-classics; from the likes of Adventure Time to The Amazing World of Gumball, the original Steven Universe series and even My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.

Now we’re on the hunt for the next best series, and we’ve stumbled upon some new and underrated titles that we love – and we know you’ll love too! Without further ado, let’s kickstart things with the indomitable…

#1. Carmen Sandiego

If you’re reading this, you’re probably too young to know the popular edutainment show from the early 90s, but don’t worry – now you can. Carmen Sandiego on Netflix follows the origin story of its titular character, a modern day Robin Hood who steals from thieves and gives back to its victims.

The show is already knees deep with 2 seasons and 1 interactive story, and features a pretty star-studded voice cast including Gina Rodriguez from Jane The Virgin, and Finn Wolfhard from Stranger Things.

#2. Harley Quinn

Ever since Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn has been present everywhere on the Internet. So I bet it’s no surprise that everybody’s favourite badass earned her own series on this list.

Airing since November 2019, the story picks up after Harley Quinn leaves the Joker and becomes partners-in-crime with her best friend Poison Ivy. As she concocts a plan to become a member of the Legion of Doom, misadventures, vulgarity, and gratuitous violence ensue. Oh, Harley.

#3. Infinity Train

From the creators of Regular Show comes another equally wacky, but far more serious story. Infinity Train follows the adventures of a young girl named Tulip as she tries to escape a seemingly endless train, each car containing environments more bizarre and impossible than the next.

With the 1st season already wrapped up and the 2nd season announced, there is no better time than now to jump aboard the ride!

#4. Tuca and Bertie

If you’re a woman, and you’re in the mood for something crazy, Tuca & Bertie should be on your watch-list, full stop. This girl-powered story features two 30 year old bird-women who are best friends trying to navigate adult life together.

The voice cast is even crazier with actress Tiffany Haddish as the care-free and impulsive Tuca, and comedian Ali Wong as the anxious and career-driven Bertie.

Unfortunately the show was cancelled after 1 season, but that hasn’t stopped critics from raving about it – and you should be too!

#5. Hilda

Based on the Eisner-nominated graphic novels, Hilda tells the story of a fearless blue-haired adventurer, who realises there’s more than meets the eye when she moves to the city.

Without a doubt the most wholesome cartoon on this list, Hilda will transport you back to the days of wishing you, too, were a British child going on a fantastical adventure. Except now it’s here, and it’s on Netflix with a 2nd season on its way.
