Malaysia’s rise as an e-Sports events hub has definitely been forthcoming and this time round, we will be hosting the PUBG MOBILE Club Open (PMCO) 2019 Fall Split Global Finals which will be starting on the 29th November to 1st December 2019. This is the largest global mobile e-Sports competition organised by Tencent Gaming.
To the uninitiated, PUBG MOBILE is a mobile game based on PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS, the game phenomenon that took the world of interactive entertainment by storm in 2017. Up to 100 players parachute onto a remote island to battle in a winner-takes-all showdown. Players must locate and scavenge their own weapons, vehicles and supplies, and defeat every player in a visually and tactically rich battleground that forces players into a shrinking play zone. This battle royale game is what brought about the popularity of this genre and it is here to stay.
16 teams will compete in the PMCO Fall Split Global Finals with heavyweights such as Bigetron RA, RRQ Athena and Spring Split Champion, TOP Esports all vying for the championship. Yoodo Gank is the sole all-Malaysian team at the event and will be carrying the Jalur Gemilang into the battleground with other of the world’s best PUBG MOBILE teams including teams from North America, Europe, Asia, Korea, Japan, the Middle East and North Africa. These teams have a chance to win a part of the total prize pool of USD2.5 million!
This PMCO 2019 Fall Split Global Finals is the second part of PUBG MOBILE wider e-Sports ecosystem, the first being the Spring Split Global Finals which took place in Berlin, Germany at the end of July. Tencent Games is always actively developing the PUBG MOBILE scene across the globe and Southeast Asia is a prime example of having a vibrant scene of many semi-pros and pro teams battling out within the region.
