Alas, our last hopes have been dashed. Nintendo indirectly confirmed the news on the game’s official website, saying “When Toadette finds one of these, she can transform into the super-powered Peachette. (Sorry Luigi – only Toadette can use this item!)”
While the side comment about Luigi is strange to say the least, it does confirm the question that the Internet has been asking since the announcement trailer was dropped September last year. Can anybody use the Super Crown? Can Bowser use the Super Crown?!
Sad to say, Nintendo confirms that the answer is no. (Now, let’s just hope that “Luiette” doesn’t become a thing after this.)
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe will be available on the Nintendo Switch from 11 January 2019 onward.
