Cosers Confess: My Friends Are Abandoning Me

Disclaimer: Submissions may be edited for clarity of reading and comprehension.

Dear The Magic Rain Team,

Whenever I cosplay, I sometimes feel like I’m being abandoned by some of my friends. I have a huge insecurity that I’m not as beautiful as my other friend and so on… I have had so many negative thoughts about it and I don’t know how to stop thinking about it.

Sincerely,
Left Out

Dear Left Out,

What did your friend do to make you feel as though you are being abandoned? Try communicating with him or her about your feelings. Tell them what is bothering you so you can get to the bottom of it. Hopefully, it’s nothing. Don’t think too much. Just ask and you’ll know.

Whenever we overthink, we rewind and replay the same scene in our minds over and over again only to waste time worrying over something. Is it there or is it not there? Overthinking won’t change anything nor put you in a better place. Sometimes issues at hand may seem complicated but it is so much easier than you perceive it to be. Want something? Just ask. You want to try something? Then do it.

The moment we overthink, nothing gets done. It really doesn’t make any sense to agonize over a problem, only to end up doing nothing about it. It hurts you and it doesn’t make anything better. So, if you feel as though your friend is avoiding you, ask them about it. If they really are, find out why. Then make your decision, to change or to find other friends who will appreciate you. What do I mean by change? If a large number of your friends (perhaps more than 3 or 4) tell you that you have an attitude problem, it’s most likely to be true. This depends on how close you are to them. So, don’t think too much. Just do it.

On the other hand, everyone is unique and beautiful in their own way. As cliché as it sounds, it’s true. Looks don’t last forever. So, being as beautiful as your friend or not should not matter to you. As time goes by, all that’s left of everyone is their personality. So, your personality is what should matter to you. Don’t worry, everything will be fine. Just remember that you are you. Never change that. Always believe in yourself because if you don’t, who will?

I know it’s not easy to stop overthinking. I do that a lot too. Just remember that worrying about something constantly will just waste your time because it won’t change anything. If you want something to change, do it. There is no such thing as mistakes, only learning opportunities. So, don’t worry. You got this.

Sincerely,
Ms. Scrumptious
