To all our fellow readers, Happy White Day! For those who don’t know what White Day is, it is a day celebrated on March 14, when men shower women with candy and gifts (the opposite of Valentine’s Day). On this special day, why not enjoy your lunch/dinner while listening to opening and ending songs of anime, but with a twist! How about listening to interesting cover songs instead of the original renditions?
The opening and ending songs of an anime are essential, and without it, nothing would be the same. The songs are capable of bringing forth emotions, hyping people up and also providing a teaser of what they can look forward to in the anime. As the popularity of anime increases, we start to see cover songs popping up here and there on YouTube, Facebook, etc. Cover songs invoke a different quality from the original artist’s version and may occasionally turn out to be better or just as nice as the original!
Without further ado, I’d like to introduce an amazing South Korean Youtuber called Raon Lee who has been doing cover songs for roughly about 2 years. According to Raon Lee’s online biography, she first started uploading covers on October 2014. If you’ve not heard of her or her covers before, you’re definitely missing out. As of March 2017, she has gained 1.25 million subscribers and her most popular cover to date, Naruto Shippuden’s Silhouette has been watched 29 million times. Check it out below!
The 26-year-old Youtuber is well-known for her strong, powerful voice and have a wide vocal range, as evidenced by the contrast between her covers of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s Pon Pon Pon and Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei’s Rising Hope by LiSA (which is a personal favourite of mine).
Furthermore, she is known to sing in Japanese, Korean, and even English! This Youtuber also does the occasional collaboration with Norwegian Youtuber PelleK and more recently with fellow Korean Youtuber Dragon Stone. Not only that, she also vlogs and even does streams of her gaming. Her fame has been on the rise both abroad and locally, with her performing live in local gigs. Here are some more covers you can listen to.
With that, the MAGIC RAIN team wishes all our readers a Happy White Day once again and we hope you enjoy listening to Raon Lee and her songs!
