Identity V is one of the biggest mobile games in China. A few weeks ago, the second biggest game company in China, Netease, released a new game which is called ‘Identity V’. By the time they released the game globally, it reached 1 million downloads in the Google Play Store.
Identity V is an asymmetric survival horror online multiplayer game which requires 5 people to play. The game is said to be similar to Dead by Daylight whereby 1 of the players has to play as the Hunter, and the other 4 player play as the Survivors and make their way to escape from the haunted place.
The core of this game is a hide-and-seek match between one hunter and four citizens. If you’re playing as a Hunter, you need to knock down the citizens and put them on a rocket chair to send them off to the manor. While if you play as the Survivor, you need to decode the 5 ciphers. By decoding the ciphers, this will grant electricity for you to type the password and get out from the place.
Also if you’re here for the plot, you can play the single-player mode which also serves as the tutorial. In the single-player mode, you play as a detective investigating how many survivors and hunters were once in the manor. As you progress along the detective’s storyline, you will unlock more Survivor and Hunter characters which you can use in the multiplayer mode later.
Personally, I think Identity V is by far the most interesting horror mobile game in awhile as I had a lot of fun playing it. But one thing that it needs improvement is the interaction between the four Survivors as you can only use short messages like “Focus on decoding”, “Hunter near me”, “I need help” and a few others. The ping also wasn’t that good even though I was using one of the best internet service providers in Malaysia, yet I was still stuck at 100+ ms. I hope they can improve more on this so that players will have a better playing experience and have a lot more fun.
